This large version of Seward Johnson's "Return Visit" was installed in Chicago's Pioneer Court on Nov. 1, 2016. The original resides in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Who, then, is this character? ⬇
While Roadside America sees the figure above as Perry Como, he is intended to represent a tourist everyman, to whom Lincoln is showing his Gettysburg Address.
Everyman's sneakers contrast sharply with Lincoln's polished black shoes (or are they boots?).
This installation replaces a statue of Marilyn Monroe, also by Seward Johnson.
