This possibly c. 1819 or 20 painting, Woman in a Scroll-Arm Chair, hangs in the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC.
It is identified as "Mrs. Robinson." About all that's known about the sitter is that she is holding a copy of The Journal of Thomas Chalkley (1675 - 1741) a popular Quaker tract. The painting may have been denominated "Mrs. Robinson" because it resembles Ammi Phillips's portrait of Nancy Caldwell Robinson.
