"Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte, Elizabeth {Patterson Bonaparte}'s son, was the first president of the Maryland Club in Baltimore, a men's social club, of which members represented some of the most prominent business and political figures in Maryland history. This painting, executed posthumously from a photograph, was undertaken in 1876 by John Dabour, a French-trained portrait artist who settled in Baltimore that same year." -- Maryland Historical SocietyJerome N.
