Charles Wilson Peale's 1807 portrait of Meriwether Lewis hangs in Independence Hall in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

 
An engraving by A. W. Elson & Co. of  Peale's portrait formed the frontispiece of Hosmer's 1904 edition of Lewis and Clarks' 1814 book, History of the expedition of Captains Lewis and Clark
